In 2003 I had a Big Idea: to produce a ballet seminar in Yokohama's Landmark Hall. Landmark Hall liked my idea, and 80 young dancers, by attending, showed that they liked the idea, too!

Over the years Yokohama Ballet Intensive has grown from a 2-day event to 5 days, with guest teachers from Canada, U.S.A., and Europe, and students from Hokkaido to Okinawa! To date over 3,000 students, teachers, parents, and dance friends have come to Landmark Hall to participate in or watch what we are doing at the Yokohama Ballet Intensive. WOW! The support I have received from students, teachers, and parents has been overwhelming...and confirms my original Big Idea. There really is a need for this kind of seminar in Japan!

Each year I try to talk to you when you come to Landmark Hall but the 5 days of the seminar are so full and everyone is so busy dancing that when it is all over I never  really feel that I have been able to get to know you, and find out what you think. I hope that this page will change that. Finally I will be able to "hear" what you are saying. Please send me ideas for blogs, questions for seminar teachers, suggestions for the seminar, or just your own view of the world of dance!

Because it's a blog I will definitely be writing about my view. I plan to give you  training tips, write about Japanese dancers training and performing abroad, bring you up-to-date on the latest trends in the dance world, and blog, blog, blog about ballet. I hope you find it entertaining!

I'm excited about the 9th Yokohama Ballet Intensive, March 29-April 2, 2011: great teachers, lots of ballet and contemporary dance, and an introduction to screendance! See the website, pick up a pamphlet, or contact our office for details.
